announce that she has joined the Golden Gate Doula Association

"It is said when a mother goes into labor she leaves her body and travels to the stars to collect the soul of her baby before they return to earth together."

We offer hospital births, birthing centers and home births.

Studies show again and again how a Doula's support through labor and delivery minimize the number of interventions received, decrease the time of labor, and provide the couple with loving support. I respect that each mother's pregnancy and birth is special and unique and I am educated in the emotional and physiological process of birth, pregnancy, and postpartum. I support the birthing parent, partner and family through the events of birth.  I also offer educational and community resources so parents can inform themselves in making the best decisions.

I have partnered up with another incredible doula, Meghan Murphy and we are currently accepting clients as a team. With a birth doula partnership, you have access to a larger breadth of knowledge and experience. We attend both prenatal visits and your postpartum visit together so that we are equally familiar with your personal needs, expectations and intentions for your birth. During the time surrounding your estimated due date, we work in 12 hour on-call shifts. This means that you always have a well rested, energized doula at your side. During the birth we keep each other informed on how everything is going so when the other doula arrives, she can hit the ground running with a smooth transition.

Meghan is a mother to 3 girls- ages seven and three year old twins. After nearly a decade in newborn and postpartum care, Meghan decided to expand her practice to include births. From the first birth she attended, Meghan knew she was exactly where she was meant to be. Meghan’s compassionate nature and generous spirt exude love and balance into the birthing space. She truly believes that birthing is the most natural thing in the world and every woman has a right to her ideal birth. Meghan pulls from her experience as a postpartum doula, breastfeeding educator and her yoga practice to offer the most holistic care to mothers during the pre and postnatal periods.

Initial Meeting

At our free initial meeting, we can discuss your concerns, explore any questions you may have, and get to know each other. We will provide you with a contract outlining our business practices, which you can look over at your convenience. If you decide we would be a good addition to your birth team, a copy will be sent to you to E-sign and the deposit would be due to hold your spot.

Prenatal Meeting

Meet with you and your support person (if any), two times before the birth to discuss your wishes and desires for your birth and to help create a birth plan. During the meetings, we will go over the various comfort measures we can provide. Your preferences regarding interventions, procedures and your feelings regarding pain management. we will also offer education and resources on pregnancy, labor, postpartum and breastfeeding.

During your Birth

We would like to be notified at the onset of labor or when your water bag releases. At that time, we will offer suggestions for relaxation and answer any questions or concerns. One of us will join you when you feel you need help coping with the contraction. We can meet you at your home or in the hospital. Once the Doula on call arrives, she will provide continuous support during labor and birth including comfort measures such as position change, massage, counter pressure, heat and cold, verbal encouragement, visualization and breathing.

We will stay with you for one to two hours after you give birth, to assist with your initial breastfeeding and make sure you are settled with your baby.

One post partum visit to answer any questions you may have.

Photograph and photos of labor/birth will be taken and E-mailed to you before our postpartum visit (optional).

When you work with us as your doula, it’s our job to not only be there for you when you’re giving birth, but to also do everything We can to help you be prepared, relaxed, and confident. That is why we strongly encourage you to take a comprehensive birth preparation class and training.

One of the ones we highly recommend is Yes to Birth! With Rachel Yellin. My clients who work with

Yes To Birth! classes and audio relaxation program say that they felt more confident and prepared when they went into labor.
