Birth Services

"It is said when a mother goes into labor she leaves her body and travels to the stars to collect the soul of her baby before they return to earth together."

-Anonymous

I offer hospital births, birthing centers and home births.

 NOW OFFERING PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION SERVICES

Studies show again and again how a Doula's support through labor and delivery minimize the number of interventions received, decrease the time of labor, and provide the couple with loving support. I respect that each mother's pregnancy and birth is special and unique and I am educated in the emotional and physiological process of birth, pregnancy, and postpartum. I support the birthing parent, partner and family through the events of birth.

I also offer educational and community resources so parents can inform themselves in making the best decisions.

Initial Meeting

At our free initial meeting, we can discuss your concerns, explore any questions you may have, and get to know each other. I will provide you with a contract outlining my business practices, which you can look over at your convenience. If you decide I would be a good addition to your birth team, a copy will be sent to you to E-sign and the deposit would be due to hold your spot.

Prenatal Meeting

I will meet with you and your support person (if any), two times before the birth to discuss your wishes and desires for your birth and to help create a birth plan. During the meetings, I will go over the various comfort measures I can provide. Your preferences regarding interventions, procedures and your feelings regarding pain management. we will also offer education and resources on pregnancy, labor, postpartum and breastfeeding.

During your Birth

I would like to be notified at the onset of labor or when your water bag releases. At that time, I will offer suggestions for relaxation and answer any questions or concerns. I will join you when you feel you need help coping with the contraction. I can meet you at your home or in the hospital. Once l arrives, I will provide continuous support during labor and birth including comfort measures such as position change, massage, counter pressure, heat and cold, verbal encouragement, visualization and breathing.

Postpartum

I will stay with you for one to two hours after you give birth, to assist with your initial breastfeeding and make sure you are settled with your baby.

One post partum visit to answer any questions you may have.

Photograph and photos of labor/birth will be taken and E-mailed to you before our postpartum visit (optional).

When you work with me as your doulas, it’s my job to not only be there for you when you’re giving birth, but to also do everything I can to help you be prepared, relaxed, and confident. That is why I strongly encourage you to take a comprehensive birth preparation class and training.
